Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova spoke at the High-Level Commemorative Meeting dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the First Conference of Heads of State and Government of Non-Aligned Movement member countries in Serbia.
According to information provided to Modern.az by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis, the speaker conveyed the greetings of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the event participants at the beginning of her speech.
Sahiba Gafarova stated that the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, equality, and non-interference in internal affairs of the Non-Aligned Movement still hold significant importance in the system of international relations today.
She noted that during Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Movement in 2019–2024, special attention was paid to strengthening solidarity among member countries, institutional development, and jointly responding to global challenges.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis emphasized that the main tasks of the Non-Aligned Movement are to preserve unity and solidarity, strengthen its international prestige, and increase its contribution to peace, sustainable development, and a more just world order.
