After regaining its independence, one of the main priorities in Azerbaijan's foreign policy has been the establishment of diplomatic relations with various countries around the world and the development of these relations on an institutional basis. As a result of this policy, today Azerbaijan has a wide network of diplomatic missions operating on various continents of the world.

Modern.az reports that currently Azerbaijan is represented by embassies, consulates general and diplomatic offices in dozens of countries located on the continents of Europe, Asia, America and Africa. These missions operating in foreign countries not only protect Azerbaijan's political, economic and humanitarian interests, but also provide consular services to Azerbaijani citizens living and traveling abroad.

Azerbaijan currently has more than 70 diplomatic missions operating in foreign countries. The majority of these are embassies. In addition, consulates general and diplomatic offices also operate in various countries.

Azerbaijan's diplomatic missions cover a geographically wide area. Azerbaijani embassies operate in Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia and Georgia in Europe. In countries such as Russia, Georgia and Turkey, there are also additional consulates general.

Asia is one of the regions where Azerbaijan has the widest diplomatic representation. Azerbaijani embassies operate in Turkey, China, Japan, Republic of Korea, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. At the same time, consulates general serve in Istanbul, Kars, Dubai, Tabriz and Aktau.

On the American continent, Azerbaijan has diplomatic missions in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Cuba and Uruguay. In addition to the embassy located in Washington, the capital of the USA, a Consulate General also operates in Los Angeles.

On the African continent, Azerbaijan is represented by diplomatic missions in Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Ethiopia and the Republic of South Africa. These missions operate both in the direction of developing bilateral relations and expanding Azerbaijan's economic and political cooperation with African countries.

Azerbaijan's consulates general are located in Los Angeles, Istanbul, Kars, Batumi, Dubai, Tabriz, Aktau, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. In addition, diplomatic offices operate in Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Peru, Uruguay and Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Diplomatic missions in foreign countries are not limited to the development of political relations. They also perform important functions such as promoting Azerbaijan's economic interests, attracting investments, promoting the country's tourism potential, coordinating work with the diaspora, promoting culture, and providing prompt assistance to Azerbaijani citizens in emergency situations.

In a globalizing world, the international prestige of states is measured not only by their economic and military power, but also by their diplomatic representation capabilities. The extensive diplomatic network formed by Azerbaijan over the past thirty years has made a significant contribution to strengthening the country's international position, protecting its national interests, and implementing its foreign policy priorities.
