Attacks on civilian merchant ships continue in the Black Sea.
Modern.az reports, citing “Musavat.com”, that the dry cargo ship named “Babylon” was attacked by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) near Anapa, Russia.
Although the ship was damaged as a result of the attack, the safety of the crew members was ensured. The sailors on board were evacuated and delivered to a nearby port. According to preliminary information, there were no deaths or serious injuries among the crew members.
No official statement has been made about which side's attack caused the incident. In recent days, the number of drone attacks against civilian cargo ships in the Black Sea and Azov Sea aquatories has increased against the background of the Russia-Ukraine war. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has also warned about increasing threats to civilian shipping.
It should be recalled that a few days ago, the cargo ship “Atlas Bey” was also attacked by a drone near the coast of Odessa.
There were 11 Azerbaijani sailors on that ship. As a result of the attack, the ship's captain, Azerbaijani Samad Nasrullayev, died, and other crew members were safely evacuated.
Currently, investigations are continuing into the extent of the damage to the “Babylon” ship and other details of the incident.
