The 2026 FIFA World Cup has become the most attended championship in the history of the tournament in terms of the number of games played.
Modern.az reports that "Sky News" TV channel spread information about this.
According to the source, after the first 36 of the 104 planned matches in the World Cup, the total attendance in the stands reached 2,307,947 spectators. This means that an average of 64,110 fans attend each game, and the stadium occupancy rate is at a record high of 99.54%.
It should be noted that this year's World Cup, which will last from June 11 to July 19, is co-hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada. This is also the first World Cup in history with the participation of 48 national teams. The last champion of the tournament is the Argentine national team, which defeated France in the 2022 final.
