The party membership of 9 deputies sent to the disciplinary board with a request for their expulsion from the Republican People's Party (CHP) of Turkey has been terminated.

Modern.az reports that after the execution of the decision, the number of CHP deputies in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) decreased from 138 to 129. The aforementioned 9 individuals will continue their activities as independent deputies.

According to the information, the leadership of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the post of CHP chairman, had taken action last week to remove 9 deputies, who were known for their closeness to former chairman Özgür Özel, from the party. Within the framework of the disciplinary process, the positions of Gökhan Günaydın and Ali Mahir Başarır as group deputy chairmen in the TBMM were also abolished.

Regarding the issue, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's lawyer Celal Çelik made a statement, saying that the temporary removal of memberships by the Supreme Court is a standard legal procedure until the disciplinary process is fully completed.
