The Islamic Republic of Iran has reclosed the Strait of Hormuz to shipping in response to the violation of the ceasefire in southern Lebanon.
Modern.az reports that the Tasnim News Agency released this information.
In a statement issued by the "Khatam al-Anbiya" Central Headquarters, which coordinates the Iranian Armed Forces, it was stated:
"Due to the US's failure to implement the first clause of the memorandum on the cessation of war and its clear violation of commitments, as well as Israel's continuous violation of the ceasefire in southern Lebanon, the killing and displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians, and the failure of Israeli forces to withdraw from the occupied territories in southern Lebanon, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping is announced."
The statement notes that this step is the first phase of a response to the enemy's violation of its commitments. If the aggression continues, further steps will be planned and implemented to compel the enemy to fulfill its obligations.
