The Media and Broadcasting Council is being established.
Modern.az reports that the issue was reflected in the proposed amendments to the laws "On Media" and "On Civil Service" discussed at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis Human Rights Committee.
According to the project, the name of the Audiovisual Council will be changed to the Media and Broadcasting Council. The new p will act as the authorized state p in the field of media and broadcasting in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to the changes, the powers related to increasing media literacy, the activities of branches and representative offices of foreign media entities, maintaining the Media Register, issuing journalist IDs, and including media entities in the register will be exercised by the Council.
In addition, print and online media entities, news agencies, and journalists wishing to be included in the Media Register will apply directly to the Council.
The draft law also provides for the organization of the Council's activities on a collegial basis, the election of two deputy chairmen, and the determination of management mechanisms.
