Voter turnout in the parliamentary elections held in Israel has reached a record high.
Modern.az reports that, according to information released by “The Times of Israel” citing the country's Central Election Commission, 66.7 percent of voters had cast their ballots by 6:00 PM local time.
This is the highest figure recorded for that hour. For comparison, at the same time in 2022, voter turnout was 57.7 percent.
More than 4.8 million voters have already participated in the voting.
The elections are considered crucial for the political future of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Opinion polls suggest that the coalition he leads could lose its majority in parliament.
Netanyahu's main rival is former Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot.
