Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in New York at the end of September, within the framework of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
Modern.az reports that Lavrov spoke about the meeting during an inter-embassy round table dedicated to the Ukrainian issue.
According to him, the parties will discuss the US position on the situation in Ukraine. The exact date of the meeting has not been announced.
The 81st session of the UN General Assembly began on September 8. General debates with the participation of heads of state and government will be held from September 22 to 26, as well as on September 28.
Sergey Lavrov's speech at the UN General Assembly is scheduled for September 26.
Lavrov and Rubio's last meeting took place in July within the framework of the ASEAN summit in Manila. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that during that meeting he informed his American counterpart about the situation in the areas where fighting is taking place in Ukraine and spoke about the destabilizing influence of European countries.
Rubio, on the other hand, described the meeting as a “frank and good” conversation.
