At least 2,488 commercial establishments were damaged as a result of mass protests held in France on October 17 and 24.

Modern.az reports, citing the "France Info" channel, that the country's Chamber of Commerce and Industry released information about this.

It was stated that 1,100 of the damaged establishments suffered serious destruction, and 650 stores have not yet been able to resume their activities. On the days when the protests were held, the trade turnover of stores located in city centers decreased by 80%.

Alain Di Crescenzo, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, estimated the total damage to the trade sector as a result of the protests at 1.5 billion euros.

France's famous "Carrefour" supermarket chain reported that about 50 of its stores were looted. For this reason, the company predicts that its operating profit will decrease by 80-200 million euros based on the year's results.

Former French Minister of Economy Thierry Breton estimated the total damage to the country at 2-3 billion euros. This amount includes not only the costs of restoring public buildings but also the increase in the cost of servicing public debt against the background of political instability.
