Uzbekistan plans to increase the pension age.
Modern.az reports that, according to the project prepared by the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan, it is proposed to increase the pension age to 63 for men and 58 for women.
The change is expected to be implemented gradually starting from 2028. The pension age will be increased by 3 months each year and will reach the determined limit by 2039. In addition, it is proposed to increase the minimum work experience from 7 to 15 years. This change will also be implemented gradually.
According to the project, the abolition of the rule on freezing pension savings is also planned from 2030. Thus, citizens may be allowed to use pension savings prematurely for housing or health-related expenses.
It is noted that the share of young people in the total population of Uzbekistan is significantly higher than the world average. More than half of the country's population consists of people under 30.
