US Vice President J.D. Vance called on President Donald Trump to start negotiations with Tehran to stop the war with Iran.
Modern.az reports that “Axios” published information about this.
According to the publication, Vance believes that the conflict is extremely unpopular in American society. In his private conversations, he stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was “wrong about everything” regarding the Iran issue.
Although most of Trump's advisers support Vance's position, the US President is still considering the possibility of resuming military operations.
Vance shared his thoughts on the reasons for the Republican Party's failure in the last congressional elections on his page on the social network “X”. He stated that the Democratic Party's big victory in Washington in the congressional elections, in other words, the “blue tsunami”, is the result of the war with Iran.
“If you want to claim that it was all worth it, then prove why it was a justified price,” the vice president wrote.
Vance also stated that the Trump administration should now focus on ending the war with Iran and re-examine its relations with Israel to regain American support.
Agreement with Tehran discussed around Trump
Meanwhile, discussions continue around Trump regarding reaching an agreement with Tehran.
According to “Axios”, despite this, the US President is more inclined to the option of re-striking Iran's energy facilities.
At the same time, the US military is completing preparations for the resumption of possible military operations, including sending additional forces to the region.
Qatari mediators, on the other hand, are trying to secure the support of the US and Iran to reach an agreement that could prevent escalation and resume negotiations.
“Axios” writes, citing sources in US military circles, that the Pentagon ordered the Central Command to prepare for large-scale military operations in early October. However, hopes for a diplomatic solution to the conflict still remain.
Trump does not rule out the possibility of a new operation against Iran
At the end of October, the US President did not rule out the possibility of a new operation against Iran.
Earlier, he stated that the US had destroyed most of Iran's military forces, but the issue of “one or two” facilities still needed to be resolved.
According to Trump, the US should also focus on the “Pikaks Mountain” issue. According to the media, a secret military nuclear facility is being built in that area. Tehran, however, denies these claims.
