Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan has leveled harsh accusations against the opposition and former government representatives.

Modern.az reports that Simonyan, in a conversation with journalists, responded to criticism of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's recent harsh rhetoric and expressed his full support for his position.

The Speaker of Parliament noted that Pashinyan's emotional speeches are the result of many years of political pressure and insults.

“Don't ask the Prime Minister the same questions. He has already answered, and I will refer to what he said. I fully share his opinion. I am surprised how he endures all this,” Simonyan said.

He accused the opposition of creating a “climate of hatred” in the country.

“Starting from 2021, they shot at us, threw us into prisons, and introduced terms like “Turk,” “traitor,” and “land seller” into circulation,” he emphasized.

Simonyan stated that former government representatives must answer for the March 1 events, falsified elections, and other serious accusations.

“Those people will answer for March 1, October 27, falsified elections, illegal property, killing people in the toilet, etc.,” he noted.

The Speaker of Parliament spoke even more harshly about Armenia's second president, Robert Kocharyan.

“As the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, I agree with what the Prime Minister said, and I will “crush” Robert Kocharyan, and others, politically, legally, and in all other senses. Because it should have been done a long time ago for what they did to our country and our people,” Simonyan said.
