Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski proposed the creation of a "European Legion" to strengthen the European Union's defense capabilities.
Modern.az reports that, according to the Polish minister in a statement to local journalists, the discussion is about forming permanent armed forces that could attract professionals from various European countries, including veterans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with combat experience.
Sikorski emphasized the importance of further deepening military integration within the EU. He stated that European countries should be able to independently deal with emerging threats without constantly asking for help from the United States.
The minister noted both traditional military threats and the use of migration flows from Africa and the Middle East as a hybrid weapon among the threats to which Europe must respond independently.
