The village of Nüvədi (now Nrnadzor) located in Western Zangezur is again on the agenda.
Modern.az reports with reference to Armenian media that the highway built by Armenia to the village located in historical Azerbaijani lands is still not put into operation.
Although it was promised that the Shvanidzor-Nrnadzor road leading to Nüvədi village would be completed by the end of 2025, and then by March 2026, the construction has not been completed yet.
The Ministry of Territorial Administration of Armenia announced that the deadline for the completion of the construction has been extended to August 2026 this time.
According to the information, the second phase of the project envisages asphalting the road. However, it is not yet known when this will be implemented.
The historical village of Nüvədi is one of the most remote settlements located in the south of Armenia, in the Zangezur region. Currently, the only road connecting the village with Meghri and other parts of Armenia is a dilapidated dirt road built on the railway line that once extended to Azerbaijan.
The village, inhabited by Azerbaijanis for centuries, was cleared of Azerbaijanis under pressure from Armenian nationalists in August 1991.
