Russian-born American investor Konstantin Sokolov has been appointed as the head of the "Tripp+ Enterprise Fund" fund, established by the US State Department for construction works to be carried out in the Zangazur corridor.
Modern.az reports that the fund, with an initial capital of 201 million dollars, was established to finance the TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) project, an initiative of the USA. The project is aimed at the development of new transport, energy and logistics routes covering Azerbaijan, Armenia and Central Asia.
Sokolov is a well-known investor living in Chicago and one of the largest donors to the Republican Party. He has donated more than 12 million dollars to Republicans during Donald Trump's second presidential term.
The new fund's resources will be directed to transport corridors, railways, energy infrastructure, critical minerals, data centers and logistics projects.
Konstantin Sokolov already has serious business interests in the region. He is one of the shareholders of Viva Armenia, one of Armenia's largest telecommunication companies. In addition, he holds leadership positions in Northern Pillar Energy Consortium and Pelagos Data Centres, which operate in the energy and digital infrastructure sectors. As the founder of investment companies operating in the USA and Switzerland, he has directed billions of dollars to energy, telecommunications and infrastructure projects.
The US administration believes that the TRIPP project will give impetus to the formation of new trade, transit and energy routes in the region. The project envisages the construction of railway, energy and logistics infrastructure, as well as strengthening economic integration in the direction of the Zangazur corridor.
It should be noted that Konstantin Sokolov, born in Russia, moved to the USA in 1997, at the age of 21. He started his career in the telecommunications sector, and later became one of the leaders of large investment projects in the energy, infrastructure and finance sectors.
