In the new Armenian parliament, where and with whom deputies have lunch during breaks has attracted attention. It is reported that the ruling and opposition deputies exhibit different behaviors in this matter.
Modern.az reports that Armenia's "Joxovurd" newspaper wrote about this.
According to the publication, although approximately 12 days have passed since the new convocation of parliament began its work, certain traditions have already formed in the daily work regime of the deputies.
During breaks, representatives of almost all factions can be found in the parliament's dining hall. Deputy Speakers of Parliament Vaagn Aleksanyan and Hayk Konjoryan also frequently have lunch here.
The newspaper writes that the dining hall has become an informal communication space for deputies. Representatives of various political forces communicate more freely here outside the meeting hall.
Arayik Harutyunyan, who moved from the government to the parliament, is also reported to regularly use the parliament's dining hall. Deputies of the ruling "Civil Contract" faction also frequently spend time in the parliament's outdoor cafe. Thus, for members of the ruling faction, a break has become not only lunch but also an opportunity to discuss work issues in an informal setting.
The situation is different in the opposition "Strong Armenia" faction. Members of the 29-person faction mostly stay together in their offices during breaks. Even the food they order is brought directly from the parliament dining hall to the faction's room.
"Joxovurd" attributes this to the newly formed faction not yet fully adapting to the parliament's work regime. It is reported that the issue of allocating separate offices for deputies has not yet been fully resolved. Therefore, the 29 deputies currently spend most of their time together in a common workspace.
