US President Donald Trump's special envoy, Jared Kushner, met with HAMAS leaders in Egypt on Sunday, urging them to fulfill their commitments to disarmament.

The meeting was Kushner's first with the HAMAS leadership since the signing of the agreement to end the war in Gaza in October last year.
The meeting took place at a time when the US administration and Trump's Peace Council called on HAMAS and Israel to move to the next phase of the US's 20-point peace plan.
According to reports, Kushner will travel to Israel on Monday to discuss with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the relevant steps Israel should take.
The meeting was also attended by Nikolay Mladenov, a high representative of the Peace Council, and Tony Blair, a member of the council and former Prime Minister of Great Britain. HAMAS political leader Khalil al-Hayya, Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad, Qatari diplomat Ali al-Tawadi, and a high-ranking Turkish official also attended the meeting.
According to the source, the main goal was to translate HAMAS's commitment to demilitarize Gaza into concrete and verifiable steps.
These steps include handing over governance in Gaza to a Palestinian technocratic government and HAMAS having no role in the future administration of the territory.
The Peace Council also wants HAMAS to begin dismantling its weapons and military infrastructure, facilitate the deployment of International Stabilization Forces to Gaza, and remove obstacles to the reconstruction of the territory.
The source stated that if HAMAS begins disarmament, Israel should also withdraw from Gaza accordingly and accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The source also emphasized that HAMAS must relinquish governing authority, all weapons, and military infrastructure.
