Iranian airlines will not be able to operate international flights from September 23.
Modern.az reports that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNBC that pressure on Iranian airlines will be increased within the framework of sanctions imposed by the US.
According to him, if Iranian airlines fly to foreign countries, the provision of fuel and ground services to them will be restricted, and obstacles may arise in ticket sales.
Bessent said that the US is also monitoring companies cooperating with Iranian airlines. According to him, these companies may face US financial sanctions. The minister added that President Donald Trump has launched an economic pressure campaign against Iran and is contacting leaders of other countries to urge them to stop cooperation with Iran.
Bessent's statement was made within the framework of further tightening of US sanctions against Iran's aviation sector.
