The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has prepared for a long-term war with the United States.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by IRGC representative, Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi.
“The war continues, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has prepared for a long-term war. It was ready from the beginning, and now it is even better prepared for a long-term war,” the general said.
Mohebbi characterized the current situation as a “historic and disgraceful defeat” for the United States. According to him, Washington has suffered strategic failures in several areas.
According to the general, these include the US's inability to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the vulnerability of military bases and intelligence facilities in the region, as well as the ineffectiveness of American military equipment against Iran's capabilities.
He also claimed that the US has lost its influence in the region.
“America did not lose the war – the American system lost,” Mohebbi said.
According to him, Iran is currently participating in the formation of a new security system in the region.
Previously, Iranian army commander, Major General Amir Hatami also announced that the country's armed forces are fully prepared to repel a possible new attack by the US or Israel.
These statements come at a time of growing concern in the Middle East that the US may launch new military strikes against Iran. The conflict is reportedly ongoing for about seven months and has reached a stalemate.
US President Donald Trump, meanwhile, said on Sunday that he is in the process of making a decision regarding Iran. According to him, Washington is considering various options, from the “complete destruction” of the country to imposing economic pressure and concluding a peace agreement.
