It is already difficult to voice a new opinion about the OSCE Minsk Group.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Tofig Zulfugarov at the round table organized by the Media Development Agency on the topic "President Ilham Aliyev's peace strategy is a guarantor of stability".
He noted that President Ilham Aliyev, in his speech, both gave a full assessment of the institution's activities and clearly revealed its essence.
"As you know, shortly after regaining its independence, Azerbaijan officially applied to the OSCE and requested a mediation mission. The goal was for the international organization to take a fair position in accordance with its principles in eliminating the great danger facing our country and to get Azerbaijan out of this situation."
According to the former foreign minister, contrary to expectations, this did not happen:
"Unfortunately, the process developed in a completely different direction. At that time, the Azerbaijani society did not have sufficient ideas about the real essence of international relations, existing rules and political tendencies. People had certain illusions that international organizations would act fairly," he said.
According to Tofig Zulfugarov, the OSCE Minsk Group was actually an institution created not to resolve the conflict, but to manage the region through conflict.
He noted that subsequent processes also showed that the goal was not to resolve the conflict:
"On the contrary, they wanted to expand their influence on both Armenia and Azerbaijan by using certain elements of the conflict. Through this, they tried to form certain influence mechanisms over Azerbaijan's energy resources and strategic capabilities."
T. Zulfugarov added that various international centers of influence tried to influence the development directions, values and principles of Azerbaijani society.
He also emphasized that although military aggression was carried out against Azerbaijan for years, the occupying side did not face international pressure.
