The second day of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku has started.
Modern.az reports that within the framework of WUF13, which is considered one of the most influential global urban planning platforms in the world, an official opening press conference dedicated to the second day of the forum will be held today.
The press conference is expected to discuss priority issues in the direction of the global housing crisis, the development of safe and sustainable cities, urbanization policies and strengthening urban sustainability.
One of the main innovations on the second day of the forum is the inclusion of the Leaders' Summit in the program for the first time in WUF history. This innovation further increases the international political and strategic importance of the forum.
During the day, the Joint Closing Ceremony of the Assemblies, the meeting of African regional ministers, as well as the session of MINURVI - the Forum of Ministers and High-Level Officials for Housing and Urbanization for Latin America and the Caribbean will be held.
Within the framework of the forum, the presentation of reconstruction projects implemented in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan is also planned. The “smart city” and “smart village” concepts applied in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, as well as the work done in the direction of the “green energy zone” are expected to be met with interest by international participants.
The holding of WUF13 in Baku once again demonstrates Azerbaijan's successful hosting capabilities for international events and its active participation in global cooperation initiatives. The forum is also considered an important platform for presenting Azerbaijan's experience in sustainable development and modern urban planning to an international audience.
For information, a ministerial meeting and a ministerial round table dedicated to the New Urban Agenda were held within the framework of the first day of the forum. Also, an official flag-raising ceremony was organized within the framework of WUF13. At the ceremony, the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the UN flag were raised accompanied by an orchestra.
It should be noted that WUF13, which covers May 17-22, is organized jointly by the UN Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) and the government of Azerbaijan.
