We are closely following the results of the parliamentary elections held in Armenia. We wish the elections to be beneficial for the people of Armenia.
Shamil Ayrım, a deputy from the ruling Justice and Development Party of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, chairman of the Turkey-Azerbaijan Friendship Group, told Modern.az about this.
“As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated, we are pleased that the parliamentary elections held on June 7, 2026, ended in peace and stability. We hope that in the post-election period, Armenia will take more courageous steps towards peace and normalization in the region.
The success of Nikol Pashinyan and the political force he leads in the elections can be considered an important opportunity for the continuation of the peace and normalization process in the South Caucasus. We also welcome the constructive messages he gave during and after the election campaign regarding the development of relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan.
As Turkey, we wish to ensure lasting peace, stability and prosperity in our region. We evaluate the Turkey-Armenia normalization process and the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace talks as complementary processes,” said Sh. Ayrım.

The Turkish deputy emphasized that, along with this, it is also important to fulfill some fundamental demands that Azerbaijan has long brought to the agenda for ensuring lasting peace:
“In this framework, changing the provisions in the Armenian Constitution that create sensitivity regarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is of particular importance. Lasting peace must be strengthened not only by political will, but also by legal and constitutional grounds.
Turkey will continue to take into account Azerbaijan's rightful sensitivities based on the principle of “One nation, two states”, and at the same time will maintain its constructive position to turn the South Caucasus into a space of peace, stability and development.
As our Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized, Turkey will continue to contribute to regional stability and prosperity based on the common interests of the countries of the region, as it has done until now.
We hope that the new stage will bring peace, tranquility and mutual trust to our region. Because the winner of lasting peace will be not only states, but all the peoples of the region.”
