The Kyrgyz authorities have proposed to Kazakhstan an exchange of border territories for the construction of a toll road from Bishkek to Lake Issyk-Kul.
Modern.az reports that this was announced by Dairbek Alagozov, press secretary of the President's Administration of Kyrgyzstan.
According to him, currently a part of the route leading to Issyk-Kul passes through the territory of Kazakhstan. This refers to approximately 800 meters of road that is considered a transit zone.
Alagozov stated that an option for territorial exchange regarding that section is being considered for the implementation of the new toll road project.
It has not been disclosed which land areas Kyrgyzstan offered to Kazakhstan in return.
