Preparations for the funeral of Iran's former supreme religious leader, Ali Khamenei, have reached their final stage.
Modern.az reports that, according to information released by the Israeli press, the farewell ceremonies will last several days in various cities across the country.
It was stated that mass farewell ceremonies will be held on July 5 and 6 at the Imam Khomeini prayer complex in Tehran. On July 7, a giant funeral procession will be organized in the capital, from Imam Hussein Square to Azadi Square. Iranian authorities predict that 15-20 million people will participate in this procession.
The ceremony will then continue in the city of Qom, considered sacred by Shiites. On July 8, the p will be taken to the cities of Najaf and Karbala in Iraq. On July 9, Ali Khamenei will be buried in the Imam Reza shrine in his birthplace, Mashhad.
According to the information, 14,000 journalists, photographers, and content producers have been accredited to participate in the ceremonies. More than 900 of them are representatives of foreign media. It is also reported that official delegations and foreign leaders from more than 40 countries will attend the funeral ceremonies.
The funeral ceremonies will be held under the slogan "Iran's Martyr." The main slogan of the events will be "We will take revenge." A clenched fist has been chosen as the symbol.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Ali Khamenei's funeral ceremony should become a symbol of national unity and solidarity. According to him, Khamenei was an influential figure for the Islamic world and the global Shiite community.
Iran's emergency services have also been put on full alert during the ceremonies. The Tehran Emergency Medical Services have taken additional measures due to the hot weather conditions and announced that 7 helicopters have been allocated for prompt intervention in incidents. The Iranian army has declared that the funeral ceremonies will be a "demonstration of global protest against terrorism and US-Israeli policies."
