Protests against rising prices and deteriorating quality of public services in France resulted in clashes with police in Paris, Marseille, and other cities. Tens of thousands of people, including demonstrators in "Halloween" costumes, participated in the protests.

French Interior Minister Laurent Nunes stated that about 150 planned protests across the country were mostly peaceful, but serious disturbances occurred in some cities after the demonstrations ended.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, approximately 320,000 people participated in the protests. 70,000 of them took to the streets in Paris. Police detained 565 people across the country. Four police officers and one gendarme were injured in Paris.
In the capital, masked protesters tore up paving stones and threw them at the police, attacking security forces with incendiary devices. Police intervened with tear gas and batons. In Lyon, various objects were thrown at the police, and in Toulouse, water cannons were used to disperse the demonstrators.
Schoolchildren, trade unions, and supporters of the “Yellow Vests” movement joined the protests. They protested against rising prices, social inequality, and the policies of the Macron government. Students announced that they would organize new blockades in schools and universities in the coming days.
The wave of protests also spread to Germany. Clashes between demonstrators and police occurred in several cities. Shops were looted in Frankfurt, police used water cannons in Cologne, and barricades were burned in Hamburg.
Anti-government protests were also held in Tirana, the capital of Albania. In Italy and Spain, security measures have been strengthened due to possible disturbances.
