Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenka called the US military confrontation with Iran Washington's "fatal mistake."

Modern.az reports that Lukashenka said in an interview with Saudi Arabia's "Al-Arabiya" channel about the war launched by the US against Iran: "They (Americans) made a fatal mistake with this step, they should not have done so."

Lukashenka believes that the US allowed Israel to start a serious conflict in the Middle East, although Donald Trump could have persuaded Benjamin Netanyahu to stop attacks on Iran. He added: "He definitely could have, and some recent events prove this."

The Belarusian president also stated: "Iran cannot be defeated by missile strikes, a ground operation is needed for this, and in this case, thousands of Americans would die. The US cannot tolerate such a situation, especially given the current situation within the country and growing discontent against the Republican Party."

Lukashenka believes that Iran has the right to possess nuclear weapons because the country must have the ability to defend itself.

In response to a question about this, he said: "What do you want from Iran regarding the issue of nuclear weapons? If we look from the perspective of justice, does the US not have nuclear weapons? Yes, it does. The US is even the creator of this weapon and has had it for a long time, even used it. Israel also does not openly talk about its nuclear weapons. So, the Iranians can also ask: why shouldn't we have them? Especially since India and Pakistan are also nuclear states in the region."

The Belarusian leader added: "If nuclear weapons are a deterrent and guarantee that no one will attack you, then Iran, like other countries, has the right to possess this weapon for self-defense."

Lukashenka called Europe's demands regarding Russia unacceptable.

The Belarusian president stated that the demands of the "European trio," which includes Great Britain, Germany, and France, to Russia regarding the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict are unacceptable for Moscow.

He said: "There is a five-point statement, where demands are made against Russia, and these are unacceptable. If Europeans truly want negotiations, they first put forward maximum demands so that they can then retreat from them."

Lukashenka stated that he has repeatedly spoken with Vladimir Putin about Belarus not being involved in the Ukrainian war. According to him, such a step is absolutely unacceptable.

He added that Belarus's entry into the conflict could lead to a direct war with NATO.

Lukashenka stated that if Russian forces encircle a large grouping of the Ukrainian army in northern Donbas, the situation of the Ukrainian army will be critical.

He said that Donbas is the main stronghold of the Ukrainian army and its loss could change the course of the war.

At the same time, he noted that there is no military solution to both the Ukrainian and Middle East conflicts, and they can only be resolved through negotiations.

Lukashenka said that the conflicts could end in 2026.

According to him, if there is political will, the conflicts can be stopped this year.

The Belarusian president stated that he supports nuclear disarmament worldwide and said that this should apply to the US, Russia, China, Israel, India, Pakistan, and other countries.

He noted that nuclear weapons also pose a great risk and could lead to a global catastrophe in the future.

Lukashenka said that Belarus always tries to be ready for war to avoid it.
