Disagreements between Iran and the US regarding various clauses of the memorandum of understanding continued until the last minutes before its announcement.

Modern.az reports that an informed source told “Tasnim”.

The source explained the main directions of some changes made in the last day or two and in the hours before the announcement of the agreement as follows:

The phrase “ensuring Lebanon's sovereignty and respecting its territorial integrity” was added to the first clause of the agreement (Trump did not accept the addition of this phrase in previous texts).

The phrase “management of maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz” was added to the 5th clause of the agreement by Iran and Oman.

The collection of payments from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz has been excluded for a period of 60 days (Iran plans to collect service fees from ships after that period).

The source also emphasized that Trump insisted on the simultaneous opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the blockade immediately after the announcement of the agreement. However, Iran did not accept this, and it was agreed that the process of opening the Strait of Hormuz would begin after the agreement is signed on Friday.

Trump initially announced in a social media post that the strait and the blockade were opened simultaneously. However, after a warning from Iran through its Pakistani mediator, Trump corrected his post, writing that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen after Friday.
