The spread of the Ebola virus continues in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Modern.az reports that the country's Ministry of Communications and Media announced this on the social network X.
According to the information, 1003 cases of infection have been confirmed since the beginning of the epidemic. Of those infected with the virus, 254 people have died, and 100 people have recovered and been discharged.
Officials said that the current mortality rate is 25.3 percent. Currently, 365 people are isolated or receiving treatment in hospitals.
It was noted that anti-epidemic measures are being continued in the country's Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu provinces.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the average mortality rate during Ebola virus infection is approximately 50 percent. During previous epidemics, this indicator varied from 25 percent to 90 percent.
It should be recalled that the Bundibugyo type of Ebola virus was first discovered in 2007, and the mortality rate at that time was 32 percent.
