Armenia's statements about maintaining and developing relations with Moscow do not align with the country's course of integration into the European Union.
Modern.az reports that Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing.
According to her, Moscow hears statements from Armenian officials that they consider Russia an important partner and that Yerevan intends to maintain and develop relations with Moscow.
"However, unfortunately, we do not see actions and activities from the Armenian leadership that match their words. Because the country's leadership has openly expressed its desire to join the European Union," the Russian Foreign Ministry official emphasized.
Zakharova noted that the steps taken by Armenia in foreign policy and the direction it has chosen are among the issues closely monitored by Moscow.
