An Armenian citizen suspected of killing a Russian citizen in the center of Tbilisi has been detained by police.
Modern.az reports that “Georgia Online” published this information, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
According to the information, a conflict occurred between two foreign citizens. During the conflict, one of them injured the other with a cold weapon and a blunt object, and then fled the scene.
The injured person died at the scene.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia stated that the identity of the suspect was established as a result of operational-search measures and investigative actions, and he was detained. Law enforcement officers also seized the tool believed to have been used in the crime.
It should be noted that earlier it was reported that the murder occurred in the center of Tbilisi, in the area of Baratashvili Park. According to the information, the detained person is approximately 60 years old.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for intentional homicide. The person accused under this article may face a sentence of up to 15 years of imprisonment.
