159 people RESCUED from sunken ship in Northern Cyprus

As we reported, a passenger ship sank near the city of Kyrenia in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Modern.az reports that 159 people were rescued from the sunken ship. This was announced by the mayor of Kyrenia, Murat Şenkul.

"There are a total of 270 people on board, including passengers and crew members. The situation is very serious. The Coast Guard, the "Akgünlerin Express" ship, and numerous small boats are involved in the rescue operations," the city mayor noted.

It should be noted that there were 260 passengers on the ship that sank approximately 6.44 kilometers from the shore.
