President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong on May 5.

The Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the achievements made in advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as on the full restoration of our country's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The head of our state expressed his gratitude for the congratulations.
President Ilham Aliyev noted the achievements made in Washington regarding the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and stated that economic and trade relations have already begun between our countries and that Azerbaijan has unilaterally removed the restriction on transit cargo going to Armenia.
The participation of the President of Azerbaijan in the 8th Summit of the “European Political Community” held in the Armenian capital Yerevan in a video link format was evaluated as a historical event in the direction of normalization of relations between the two countries.
The head of our state positively evaluated the role of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in creating conditions for parliamentary dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as for regular meetings of the Azerbaijani and Armenian parliamentary speakers to discuss the peace process.
During the conversation, successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union was noted.
The Secretary General said that Azerbaijan actively participates in the work of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and touched upon our country's contribution to inter-parliamentary dialogue.
During the meeting, large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in our liberated territories, as well as Azerbaijan's suffering from the mine problem, the obstacles caused by mines to civilians and the construction process were emphasized, and views were exchanged on the current state of cooperation, prospects of relations and the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue.
