"The European Union needs Turkey more today than Ankara needs Europe."
According to Modern.az, citing "TRT Haber", Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated this after the Cabinet meeting.
"Recently, we have witnessed discussions initiated by Europeans regarding Turkey's position in Europe. We have to clarify the situation: today the issue is not where Ankara is, but where Brussels wants to be in the future world. It should already be understood that the EU, of which Turkey is not a full member, will not be able to be a global player and a center of attraction," Erdoğan emphasized.
According to him, the EU's short-sightedness towards Turkey still continues.
"However, they should not forget that today's Turkey is not the country it used to be, and the world is no longer limited by the sphere of influence of Western states as it once was," Erdoğan added.
