Spirit Airlines, one of the largest low-cost airlines in the US, has announced that it is ceasing operations.
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that, according to the company's statement, the sharp increase in oil prices in recent times and other factors putting pressure on business have seriously affected Spirit's financial prospects.
It was noted that despite all efforts, the economic difficulties that arose did not allow the company to continue its activities.
According to the information, "Spirit Airlines" has faced serious financial problems in recent years and has applied for bankruptcy twice in 2024-2025.
Although the company negotiated with the US President's Administration for financial support in March of this year, the process remained inconclusive.
It should be noted that "Spirit Airlines" operated regular flights to the US territory, the Caribbean and Latin America. More than 15,000 employees worked for the company.
