Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the right-wing bloc he represents won the parliamentary elections. However, he called for waiting for the final results.
Modern.az reports that Netanyahu spoke about this during his speech at the election headquarters of his "Likud" party in Jerusalem.
"The right-wing bloc has a clear and decisive advantage among the Zionist public and among all forces supporting the state," Netanyahu said.
According to him, Israel needs a right-wing, national and strong government.
Netanyahu believes that it is unacceptable to put Israel at risk and create a government relying on anti-Zionist Arab parties.
"However, we are still waiting for the final results," the Israeli prime minister added.
According to preliminary exit-poll results, the bloc led by Netanyahu cannot achieve an absolute majority in the Knesset.
According to exit-poll results, the "Likud" party can win 24-25 mandates in the 120-member parliament. The "Yashar" party led by Gadi Eyzenkot is in second place. This party is predicted to get 21-23 mandates.
According to preliminary calculations, Netanyahu's bloc can win a total of approximately 50 mandates. Eyzenkot's bloc is predicted to get 52-53 mandates.
According to exit-poll results, the remaining seats can be divided between the "United List" and RAAM party, which are mainly represented by Arab parties.
