A large-scale operation has been carried out in Turkey against criminal networks operating through social media and other digital platforms.

Modern.az reports that within the framework of the operation, a decision was made to detain 1008 people in 48 provinces of the country.

According to the information, the operation was carried out against new generation criminal groups. These groups are reported to use social networks for coordination, recruitment of new members, and intimidation.

According to “Hürriyet Daily News”, the order to carry out the operation was given by Turkey's Minister of Interior, Mustafa Çiftçi. According to the investigation, the suspects created groups online, sought hitmen, and promoted criminal activities through social networks. Young people are also reported to have been involved in these activities.

The operation shows that the fight against organized crime in Turkey is also being expanded to the digital sphere.
