Frederik Erens, a deputy from the right-wing “Flemish Interest” party in Belgium, was locked in the toilet of the Flemish Parliament for 13 hours due to a broken lock.

Modern.az reports, citing local media, that the incident occurred on September 16. Erens entered the toilet cabin around 5:00 PM after a meeting in parliament. However, he could not get out because the door lock was broken.

According to the deputy, his colleagues did not hear him knocking on the door because they left the parliament and went home after the meeting. Erens did not take his mobile phone with him. The deputy was only freed around 6:00 AM when a cleaning worker entered the toilet. According to the information, a military police officer used a crowbar to open the door.

The rapid decrease in air due to the air conditioner not working at night in the toilet also affected the deputy's health. Erens was taken to the hospital for a medical examination after his release.
