Concerns about the health of Chinese leader Xi Jinping have resurfaced ahead of his planned visit to the United States.

Modern.az reports that The Wall Street Journal writes that the concern arose from Xi Jinping's absence from the official dinner for leaders organized within the framework of the BRICS summit in New Delhi on September 12. Sources interviewed by the publication stated that the Chinese leader canceled his participation in the event at the last minute and returned to his hotel because he was not feeling well.

Xi Jinping participated in the BRICS summit that day and held a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This was the Chinese leader's first visit to India in seven years.

The Chinese leader's absence from the event further increased attention ahead of his planned visit to the United States. Xi Jinping's meeting with US President Donald Trump is scheduled for next week. Trade, artificial intelligence, Taiwan, and other bilateral issues are expected to be among the main topics on the agenda.

It should be noted that after the BRICS summit, various claims about Xi Jinping's health spread on social networks. Although some posts claimed that he had suffered a stroke and was hospitalized, these reports have not been officially confirmed. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs called such claims "fake and misleading."

In addition, The Wall Street Journal's sources linked Xi Jinping's absence from the dinner to his not feeling well at the time.
