Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that the average number of children per woman in the country is 1.9. This indicator shows a significant change in the demographic landscape in India, which was once associated with large families and a rapidly growing population.
The main point highlighted by experts is whether the birth rate will continue to fall. If the current trend continues, demographic inertia may continue to increase the country's population for some time.
However, according to UN forecasts, India's population is expected to reach its maximum in the early 2060s, after which the population will rapidly decline.
Thus, in India, one of the most populous countries in the world, the low birth rate is also beginning to be among the long-term demographic problems.
