French President Emmanuel Macron met with US President Donald Trump.
Modern.az reports that the meeting took place within the framework of the UN General Assembly session in New York.
Macron wrote on his "X" account after the meeting that the parties agreed to work together to reduce tensions in energy markets, protect critical infrastructure in the Middle East, and ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
"We will also combine our efforts to achieve a moratorium on strikes on Ukraine's energy and civilian infrastructure. Civilians must be protected, and we must start serious negotiations on the terms of peace between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible," Macron noted.
According to Reuters, Macron, speaking to journalists after the meeting, called his discussions with Trump "very good" and "very constructive."
The French President stated that during the meeting, there was a broad exchange of views on the Russia-Ukraine war, as well as the issue of providing more and faster anti-missile defense systems to Ukraine.
"We discussed for a long time the issues of Ukraine and Russia, the necessity of providing faster and stronger assistance to our Ukrainian friends with missile defense systems. This is one of the main issues in terms of defense," Macron said.
