Since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, horrific facts have emerged regarding cases of sexual violence committed against civilians and prisoners of war.
Modern.az reports that the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission has released information on this matter.
According to the official figures released, 1004 facts of sexual violence have been officially confirmed during the conflict. Investigations show that 89 percent of these crimes were committed by Russia, and 11 percent by Ukraine.
The report notes that among those subjected to violence by Russian servicemen, special service officers, and detention facility administrations, there are 725 men and 16 children. The youngest of the child victims is reported to be only 4 years old.
The UN emphasizes that sexual violence is systematically used by Russian forces as a tool of torture against both prisoners of war and civilians.
