New information has been released regarding the armed attack at a school in Manisa, Turkey.
Modern.az reports that some sources have unofficially stated that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was informed about the incident. Erdogan is currently on an official visit to New York to attend the UN General Assembly session.
According to preliminary information, Erdogan is reportedly dissatisfied with the incident, which occurred despite previous reports about strengthening security measures in schools.
Before the start of the new academic year on September 14, it was announced that unprecedented security measures would be taken in schools in Turkey, including the permanent presence of police officers in schools.
However, images circulated in the media and social networks after the incident raised questions about the implementation of security measures. The footage shows the armed person openly loading a weapon, moving towards the school, and entering the area unimpeded.
It is noted that if the prosecutor's investigation reveals negligence in security or a breach of official responsibility, the resignation of some officials in Turkey and changes in the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs may also come to the agenda.
The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
