It will be known on Sunday who will receive the first mandate to form a government in Israel.
Modern.az reports that “Al-Jazeera” has spread information about this.
It was stated that after the elections in the Israeli parliament (Knesset), neither Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor his main rival, former Chief of General Staff of the Israeli army Gadi Eyzenkot, were able to obtain the necessary parliamentary majority to form a government.
During consultations of political party leaders with President Isaac Herzog, which ended on November 6, 67 out of 120 deputies supported Gadi Eyzenkot, and 46 supported Benjamin Netanyahu to receive the first mandate to form a government.
President Isaac Herzog announced that he will announce his decision on November 8.
According to the information, the position of the Arab parties also played an important role in supporting Eyzenkot's candidacy. Thus, the support of 19 deputies of those parties contributed to the majority of votes formed in his favor. However, the former Chief of General Staff of the Israeli army announced that he does not intend to form an official coalition government with Arab parties.
