The Investigative Committee of Armenia announced the arrest of a suspect in the case of preparation for the assassination of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Modern.az reports with reference to local media that the arrested person is M.M. Criminal prosecution has been initiated against him under the articles of preparation for the murder of a statesman by a group of persons with political motives, as well as obstruction of pre-election campaigning.
The criminal case was opened after the dissemination of a video in which threats were made against the head of government and masked persons participated.
According to the Investigative Committee, on May 16, 2026, group members illegally accessed a video broadcast on an internet platform not intended for general use. Later, these images were broadcast, and according to the investigation's version, this step created an obstacle to the pre-election campaigning process ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7.
