The name of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's son, Bilal Erdoğan, has once again come to the attention of foreign media.
Modern.az reports that Bloomberg agency, citing sources within the ruling AK Party, stated that the Turkish President considers his son a possible successor to the country's leadership.
According to the agency, the ruling party circles are increasingly discussing the issue of transition. They are considering a scenario for Bilal Erdoğan's gradual entry into politics, in terms of leadership positions, including within the party leadership.
Sources note that Erdoğan has become noticeably more active in the public sphere. He regularly makes public appearances, state media frequently reports on him, and the president takes his son on foreign trips with him. Bilal is already involved in personnel matters within the party and government.
However, the agency's interlocutors admit that these plans may not work out, but the current situation is still considered favorable for the elder Erdoğan. Turkey is strengthening its influence in the world, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has good relations with US President Donald Trump and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.
It should be recalled that some time ago, the British magazine "The Economist" also named his son Bilal Erdoğan as a potential successor to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In addition, the President's son-in-law Selçuk Bayraktar, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu were also mentioned among the potential successors.
