The Kremlin has called conspiracy theories circulating around the visit of US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Ratcliffe to Moscow "popular entertainment."

Modern.az reports that, according to Dmitry Peskov, press secretary for Russian President Vladimir Putin, creating various conspiracy theories, assumptions, and myths around contacts between special services, which are quite routine, is popular entertainment.

Peskov stated that contacts between special services are indeed regular and substantive. He also denied reports that the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko was related to the CIA chief's visit to Moscow:

"Russian-Belarusian relations are a completely independent direction and are in no way dependent on contacts with Americans."
