"Google Maps" has started displaying the name of the p of water previously called “Lake Ontario” as “Lake America” for users in the US.
Modern.az reports that the company has released information about this.
However, users in Canada will continue to see the lake's previous name “Lake Ontario”. In other countries, the application will display both options – “Lake Ontario and "Lake America”.
The company stated that the change was made due to the updating of geographical data in official US sources.
Doug Ford, the Premier of Ontario, Canada, also commented on this decision. He installed an information board with “Lake Ontario” written on it on the shore of the lake.
It should be noted that Trump had previously announced that he officially changed the name of Lake Ontario to “Lake America”.
