The Lithuanian head coach Valdas Dambrauskas, who led “Sabah” to the main stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in its history, has a very interesting story about how he started his football career.

Modern.az reports that in 2002, at the age of 25, Dambrauskas participated in the television program “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” and won approximately 120 thousand rubles as the winner of the competition.

At that time, this amount was enough for the young Lithuanian to move to England and live there for about a month. During his stay in England, Dambrauskas began to study football coaching. In addition to studying at the coaching academy, he also gained his first serious experience in the field of football.

The Lithuanian specialist then started working in the children's teams of “Manchester United”. Thus, the foundation of his coaching career was laid in England. Years later, Dambrauskas worked in various European countries, became a professional coach and held the position of head coach in a number of clubs.

One of his recent successes is related to Azerbaijani football. “Sabah”, led by Dambrauskas, eliminated “Hapoel Beer-Sheva” in the play-off stage of the UEFA Champions League and advanced to the main stage of the tournament for the first time in its history.

Thus, Dambrauskas, who moved to England with the money he won in a television competition at the age of 25, had a coaching career that took him through the academy of “Manchester United” and various European clubs, leading him to one of the historical successes of Azerbaijani football.
