US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that China is trying to establish global dominance in key industries of the future and emphasized the importance of Washington protecting its interests against this.
Modern.az reports that Rubio shared his views on China, the European economy, and US policy in his statement.
He stated that Beijing's behavior is expected: “If I were the leader of China, I would do the same. They are trying to dominate the world in key areas of the future. This is in their interest. We must also act in our own interests.”
Rubio noted that the flooding of the European market with Chinese electric vehicles is dealing a serious blow to European industry. According to him, the US economy is also highly dependent on China in a number of important areas: “There are areas in our economy where we get 85-95 percent of our needs from China. This is a vulnerability that cannot be sustained.”
The US Secretary of State also spoke about Vice President J.D. Vance. Rubio stated that Vance is a close friend of his and would be one of the first to support him if he ran for president: “J.D. would be a phenomenal candidate. I would be the first person to support his candidacy.”
